Streamer Dr DisRespect dropped by his studio in awkward moment mid-stream after Twitch allegations

During a recent live stream, fans of Dr DisRespect experienced a tense moment just before the news broke that his own studio, Midnight Society, would sever ties with him. This decision, announced on X on Monday (25 June), followed shortly after new allegations surfaced regarding Dr DisRespect’s prior ban from Twitch. Dr DisRespect, whose real name is Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV, now streams on YouTube following his ban from Twitch in 2020, a situation that was shrouded in mystery as Twitch did not provide an explanation at the time.

Last Friday (21 June), a former Twitch employee alleged that Beahm had been involved in inappropriate communications with a minor. This claim was soon supported by another Twitch employee, as reported by The Verge.

A particularly telling moment occurred during one of Dr DisRespect’s streams when he seemed to receive a distressing message. (YouTube/Dr DisRespect) Midnight Society referenced this allegation in their statement, noting, “On Friday evening we became aware of an allegation against one of our co-founder’s Guy Beahm aka Dr Disrespect. We assumed his innocence and began speaking with parties involved. And in order to maintain our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we needed to act. For this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately.”

The internet quickly picked up on the awkward moment during Dr DisRespect’s stream. After checking his phone, his demeanor visibly changed, which did not go unnoticed by viewers. Fans speculated that this was the moment he learned about his dismissal from Midnight Society. Following this, Dr DisRespect announced he would take a break from streaming, possibly forever, mentioning, “Drive into the sunset” and suggesting there are “50 million other streamers you could watch right now.”

Before the official announcement from Midnight Society, Beahm tried to address the growing rumors about his Twitch ban on X, claiming his innocence. He stated, “Listen, I’m obviously tied to legal obligations from the settlement with Twitch but I just need to say what I can say since this is the f**king internet. I didn’t do anything wrong, all this has been probed and settled, nothing illegal, no wrongdoing was found, and I was paid.”
