T-Mobile outage hits customers across the US as reports top 62000

T-Mobile said it was working to fix a nationwide outage after reports topped 62,000 on Monday.

The wireless carrier’s service problems began around 4 p.m. ET on Monday, July 27, and Downdetector showed more than 62,000 incidents at the peak before the tally slid to about 21,200 by 6:05 p.m.

Downdetector said the spike reflected crowd-sourced status reports, while users in Arizona, California, Georgia and Utah said their phones were dropping into SOS mode.

T-Mobile said in a statement on X, “Our teams are actively working the reports of technical challenges impacting some customers. Any service impacts are in the process of being resolved and are our highest priority. We know how critical it is to stay connected, and every available resource is focused on resolving this as quickly as possible.”

FOX Local said nearly half the users filing reports blamed mobile-phone trouble, with others pointing to no signal and mobile internet.

Seattle user skibblezing wrote on Reddit, “Is anybody else currently limited to SOS on the T Mobile network in Seattle? This has been happening for maybe the last hour for me. Resetting my phone has done nothing and looking at Down Detector it looks like this is happening around the country.”

A Jersey City user wrote on Reddit, “okay so for some reason my phone has been on ‘SOS ONLY’ for about 3 hours now and i wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing that with t mobile right now? i paid my phone bill lmfao and i even ran some errands thinking that maybe it was just my area that i’m having trouble with. is anyone else’s phone data acting up?”

The same afternoon, smaller spikes showed up for Verizon and AT&T, but T-Mobile complaints still dominated the chatter.

Another Reddit user added, “Yeah something is def happening, got 4 phones on a family plan and all of them are down. Been trying to re-register to the t-mobile network and it’s repeatedly failing.”

One thread kept filling with quick-hit check-ins from across the country.

“Down in NC too,” one user wrote. “Same here in Georgia,” another said. “Down in Queens, New York,” a third added.

Another user said service had briefly returned in Texas, then dipped again.

“It’s back online again for me. Started working again 2 minutes ago. In DFW.”

In the viral moment, phones flipped to SOS and users started comparing notes online.

They said resets did nothing, bills were paid, and the network still would not hold.

People in California, Florida, Washington, Maryland and Tennessee kept posting as the reports moved up and down.

“I’m showing SOS (no connection, with intermittent connectivity, then SOS again,” one user wrote. “Same in MD. Ended a call and lost all service,” another added. “5G going in and out in VA,” a third said.

By Monday evening, Downdetector still showed reports falling after the earlier peak.

T-Mobile said its teams were actively working on the technical challenges impacting some customers.
