Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have installed an alarm system that issues voice warnings to anyone who gets too close to their new Ohio mansion.
The couple, both 36, purchased the 21,000-square-foot lakefront property in Bratenahl for $5.35 million in March, months before their July wedding at Madison’s Square Garden. A nearby neighbor said that someone approaching the house recently triggered the system. “A neighbor approached the house and got a voice warning about not passing onto the property after getting too close to the house,” the neighbor shared.
The eight-bedroom, 11-bathroom estate sits along Lake Erie and includes a game room and a theater. Despite the security measures, sources say the couple has not caused disruptions since moving in. The village itself remains a quiet, secluded enclave with its own small police force that patrols regularly.
Veteran area realtor Patricia Knight Gary of Howard Hanna Realty noted that additional security may be coming. “It does have a small police force that gauge and patrol the village on a regular basis,” she said. “And then even at the condos [down the street], there is 24 hour security, so I would anticipate that there might be some discussion in terms of increasing that.”
Knight Gary added that the community learned of the celebrity purchase only when the news became public. “We found out publicly when everyone else did [about their move],” she said. She also expressed uncertainty about how their presence might affect the area. “We’re waiting to see what impact this will have in terms of the additional traffic, additional people, and the village, but I think we certainly understand that this is not their full-time home either, so we have no way of knowing at this point just what the impact will be. It’s almost a wait and see, quite frankly.”
The Ohio mansion is not the couple’s primary residence. A source said earlier this month that Kelce’s home in Leawood, Kansas serves as their main base, particularly during football season. Swift maintains additional properties in Nashville, Rhode Island, Beverly Hills, and her Tribeca apartment in New York City. “So they have plenty of options depending on where they need to be,” the source explained.
Knight Gary believes the celebrity connection could eventually boost local property values. “I would think that certainly the residents and those who are selling would certainly have some hope that this might do something to increase values, but it is very difficult to gauge and anticipate it at this point,” she said. The realtor also clarified that any fencing or barriers appear limited to the couple’s private estate rather than the village as a whole. “Something may have been set up at that particular home which is their private estate, but in terms of any additional fencing for the village, I’m not aware of that,” she stated.
The Bratenahl purchase adds to Swift and Kelce’s growing real estate portfolio, though the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s Cleveland Heights childhood home lies miles away from the new lakefront property. The distance between his upbringing and their new secluded retreat underscores the couple’s efforts to establish private spaces away from public scrutiny.
Security concerns have followed the high-profile pair since their relationship became public, with fans and media frequently tracking their movements across their various homes. The voice-activated warning system represents their latest attempt to establish boundaries at a property they visit only occasionally.
The couple married in July at Madison Square Garden, capping a whirlwind romance that began in 2023. Their real estate acquisitions have since drawn significant attention, with each new purchase analyzed for location, size, and security features.
