Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd have confirmed they ended their romantic relationship more than a year ago.
Bueckers, 25, and Fudd, 23, both now play for the Dallas Wings, but they made clear on Friday’s “Fudd Around and Find Out” podcast that their breakup predated Fudd’s April draft by months. Bueckers appeared as a guest on the show her former partner hosts, and the two addressed the situation directly after fielding ongoing fan speculation.
“Paige and I have something we want to share with everyone,” Fudd began on the podcast. “We are no longer together.”
Bueckers clarified the timeline immediately. “It’s been a while. It’s been, like, over a year,” she said. She then preempted the narrative she knew would follow their joint announcement: “You know everybody’s gonna be like, ‘Oh my gosh, they’re teammates, how is this gonna work?’ We were not together before she got drafted, so all those narratives can go to bed.”
Bueckers defended Fudd’s professional standing directly. “She was not drafted because she was my girlfriend, she was drafted because she deserved it,” she said. She continued, “She’s an amazing human, amazing basketball player, and we’re still friends.” The two were heard giggling throughout the exchange, and Bueckers added simply, “we’re still cool.”
The former couple described their current dynamic as deliberately professional. Bueckers called it “the utmost professional” and noted that though they are “at different points” in their lives, they “still support each other.” She also acknowledged that they both “will eventually move on.”
Fudd pushed back against fan behavior that has apparently continued since the split. The athletes “don’t need messages on what the other person’s doing,” she said. Bueckers expanded on that point, saying, “At the end of the day, we still care about each other. We want the best for each other, and all the negative things can be put aside.”
The two first confirmed their relationship publicly in July 2025, ending months of speculation that had built across social media. The confirmation came during a red carpet interview with WAG Talk, where the couple participated in a “How well do you know your D1 girlfriend?” segment. Bueckers correctly answered multiple questions about Fudd, including identifying what Fudd’s phone case said — “Paige Buckers’ girlfriend,” a detail previously spotted on social media. When the interviewer pressed for a “girlfriend reveal,” Bueckers confirmed the name: “Azzi Fudd.”
During that same interview, Bueckers had shared intimate details about their relationship. She revealed that Fudd selected her sneakers for each Dallas Wings game, and she offered perhaps the highest basketball compliment available, saying that if her life was “on the line,” she’d trust Fudd with the “last-second shot” to save her.
The Friday podcast disclosure marks a significant shift from that public warmth to a deliberate unwinding of their romantic narrative, with both women now positioned as colleagues rather than partners. Their joint appearance to deliver the news together, complete with laughter and mutual defense, appeared designed to reset fan expectations before the WNBA season advances further.
