Anxious Parrot Who Tore Her Own Feathers Out Is Now Wearing Tie-Dye Sweaters

Javi the parrot had a tragic start in life, but with a lot of love and care from a bird sanctuary she’s now on the road to recovery.

Javi was so neglected by her previous owners that the lonely bird began tearing out her feathers in anxiety.

But since arriving at Kansas bird sanctuary, things have been looking up for Javi. She’s enjoyed her first ever (yep, first EVER) bath, and discovered her favorite fruits, fresh apples and bananas.

But what about her feathers? Well, the sanctuary knitted Javi some very snazzy tie-dye sweaters to keep her cozy while she recovers.

Kail Marie, director and co-founder of Tallgrass Parrot Sanctuary where Javi now lives, told the Dodo, “She cracks me up. I swear she loves dressing up.”

Javi also has a plain white sweater for when her favourite rainbow tie-dye one is in the wash. So sophisticated.

Everyone’s hoping that Javi’s feathers will grow back, but they can’t be certain as her awful living conditions and constant anxiety left her completely bald.

But Javi is already much happier and has been melting hearts at the sanctuary, telling rescuers “I love you.” What a smooth talker.

Sanctuary workers say that, for Javi, learning to trust people again is just as important as regrowing her feathers, as they hope to find this plucky little parrot a new forever home.

With such an incredible transformation, sparky character, and jazzy collection of knitwear we’re sure Javi will be snapped up in no time.

It’s just a matter of keeping her pecker up.
