These Amazing Japanese-Inspired Shoes Literally Wrap Around Your Feet

Most of us have dealt with the annoyance of ill-fitting shoes — it’s a rare thing when a shoe fits perfectly and comfortably the first time.

But Italian shoe maker Vibram is set to change all that with its new Furoshiki Shoes, which wrap around the feet and guarantee comfort whatever your foot shape.

Vibram calls it the first ever “wrapping sole,” since the soles have wraps attached, which are then fastened with velcro.

Furoshiki (風呂敷) are a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth used for transporting goods.

The Furoshiki shoe is the brain-child of Japanese designer Masaya Hashimoto, who had the bright idea of taking the concept of Furoshiki and applying it to feet.

These one-of-a-kind shoes can be bought from the Japanese Vibram store for about $140 USD, and come in five colors.
