A captivating show is like a catchy song.

Just as that tune lingers in your mind, prompting you to hum it incessantly, a great TV series—especially a riveting thriller—keeps you engrossed at all times.

Whether you’re speculating about upcoming events, replaying that incredible scene from last night, or planning your next viewing session, a top-tier show has the knack of staying on your mind.

This is precisely the case for an Apple TV+ show that is not only being hailed as a ’10/10′ but also has viewers binge-watching through the night. Some are even dubbing it ‘one of the best TV shows ever’.

The premise is straightforward yet utterly perplexing.

If you had the chance to completely turn off your brain while at work, would you take it?

Check out the trailer, and just on the concept alone, I’d be surprised if you aren’t immediately intrigued:

The show in question is Severance, and if you haven’t yet discovered it, now’s the perfect opportunity.

If you could send a different version of your consciousness to work, so you essentially walk in and out in the blink of an eye, would you do it?

If your answer is yes, Severance poses an unsettling question: What happens to that alternate version of yourself that only exists at work?

Developed for AppleTV+, the series features Adam Scott from Parks and Recreation, with the first season’s episodes directed by either Ben Stiller (yes, that one) or Aoife McArdle.

The reviews have been exceptional, earning a 97 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an impressive 8.7 average rating on IMDb.

Severance also maintains its momentum throughout the season, with the finale receiving an average rating of 9.7 on IMDb.

For context, that score surpasses all but one season finale of Game of Thrones.

One Reddit user on the subreddit r/SeveranceAppleTVPlus shared: “I binged Severance for the first time yesterday. I’m losing my mind.”

They continued: “I watched the first two episodes a couple days ago and was instantly hooked.

“But yesterday I had a good chunk of free time and spent my entire evening watching the rest of the series from episode 3.

“OH MY GOD. It’s literally the only thing on my mind right now. There’s so much crazy sh*t and I can’t believe I didn’t discover this show sooner.”

Another Twitter user commented: “I’m always so surprised at how many people haven’t seen Severance, it’s literally one of the best tv shows ever, everyone needs to get on it!”

Writing for The Guardian, Lucy Mangan awarded it a perfect five stars, stating: “An impressively idiosyncratic thing, wholly itself and confident in its mission to make your mind implode.”

The best part?

If you start watching now, you won’t have to wait long for season two, as the next installment is set to arrive on AppleTV+ in January 2025.
