Trisha Yearwood stepped out in a sharp pantsuit for a rare red carpet appearance at a New York charity gala.
The country singer, 62, joined fellow guests at the Best Friends Animal Society’s Benefit to Save Them All on Monday, an event hosted by “The View” star Sara Haines, 47. Yearwood’s shoulder-length bob marked a notable departure from her signature long blond locks as she posed for photos on the orange carpet.
On Instagram, Yearwood shared shots from the evening alongside Haines and singer Michelle Williams. “Celebrating our four-legged friends at the Best Friends Gala! Thank you for having us and for all the work you do @bestfriendsanimalsociety,” she wrote in the caption, adding a paw-print emoji.
Yearwood, who is married to Garth Brooks, 63, the “Friends in Low Places” hitmaker, has spoken candidly over the years about her lifelong struggles with weight and dieting. Her public remarks trace back more than a decade, when she first detailed the regimen that helped her shed 30 pounds.
“I don’t think you can name one diet I haven’t done. I’m that girl who buys every magazine where somebody’s lost 30 lbs,” Yearwood said in 2013. She explained that she dropped the weight in four months by sticking to a “low-fat, low sugar” approach roughly “90 percent” of the time, supplementing her eating plan with Zumba classes at least three times weekly.
By 2015, Yearwood had refined her philosophy into what she called an “80/20” rule, a framework she shared with Parade Magazine. The approach allows her to eat healthily 80 percent of the time while reserving 20 percent for indulgence.
“I think I’m like every woman who struggles with her weight. I have ups and downs, and sometimes I’m ‘in the zone’ and sometimes I am ‘off the wagon’!” she said in that interview. Yearwood has consistently urged women to release the pressure of pursuing perfection, emphasizing that fluctuations are a normal part of life.
“Sometimes life just gets in the way and you have to forgive yourself for putting on a few pounds,” Yearwood said.
Yearwood previously hosted her own cooking show on the Food Network, a career chapter that ran parallel to her music stardom and her public conversations about balancing culinary passion with health goals. Her Monday night appearance at the animal welfare benefit marked one of her few recent red carpet outings, drawing attention to both her slimmer figure and her continued support for charitable causes.
Yearwood and Brooks married in 2005, and the couple has long maintained residences in Oklahoma and Tennessee while touring and recording. The Best Friends gala drew a cross-section of entertainment figures united by their advocacy for animal rescue and adoption programs.
Yearwood is scheduled to perform alongside Brooks during their ongoing stadium concert residency in Las Vegas.
