A barefoot man in shorts triggered a massive emergency response on Santa Monica Boulevard after his erratic behavior escalated beyond what a single officer could handle.
The incident unfolded last Friday night in West Hollywood when the man, described by witnesses as visibly intoxicated, began rolling and crawling across the roadway without shoes. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies were the first to arrive, but the situation quickly demanded far more manpower than initially dispatched.
“Last night someone’s friend was roaming WeHo blasted with no shoes on,” read the caption on social media footage that captured the chaotic scene. “First one cop shows, and then two.. This guy starts swinging on them.”
The video shows the man hurling himself to the ground directly in front of officers attempting to de-escalate the encounter. As he thrashed and resisted, pieces of clothing came off. The situation grew so unmanageable that paramedics and firefighters were summoned to assist.
