Video showing how mayonnaise is made is making people never want to eat it again

Fries, sandwiches, chicken, salads – mayonnaise complements a wide array of dishes. Personally, I can’t resist dabbing a bit of mayo on my sandwiches whether it’s garlic mayo, sweet chilli mayo, or the traditional kind. I’m definitely not alone in my love for this condiment, as there are countless others who share this passion. Mayo pairs well with a variety of foods.

However, its thick texture and egg-based composition can be off-putting to some. Just the mention of this creamy sauce can be enough to deter them, and the actual process of how it’s made might just turn even the most ardent mayo fans away.

To understand how mayonnaise is made, one could simply check the ingredients list on a bottle, but an Instagram account brought the process to life in a very straightforward way. The foodie page @bentleeyeats posted a video titled: “Homemade Mayonnaise in less than 1 minute!” which demonstrated how to whip up mayonnaise by blending simple ingredients like eggs, oil, mustard, and vinegar.

The video received a variety of reactions. Some people were inspired by the sauce as it came together, with one commenter noting, “So delicious! The type of egg you use really matters. I like the deep yellow yolks, it almost looks orange.” Another questioned the aesthetics of mayonnaise making, saying, “non-aesthetic? really? I think emulsification is one of the most beautiful culinary processes on earth.”

Yet, not everyone was charmed by the video. Some viewers expressed their aversion, with one sharing, “learning this in cooking class made me stop eating mayo,” after seeing the video on X. Another viewer humorously added, “This is God’s way of telling me to stop eating mayonnaise.” A third commenter dismissively wrote, “you keep that to yourself I don’t need to know about that.”

Despite the mixed feelings about the process, there were still plenty of people ready to enjoy the finished product. One person commented, “When I found out mayo was nothing but eggs & oil… It didn’t stop me from making one sandwich.”

While the creation of mayonnaise might not be the most visually appealing, it seems like it won’t deter everyone from indulging in it. As for myself, I think I’ll stick to enjoying mayonnaise made by others rather than attempting it myself with eggs and a blender. I might just switch to tomato sauce instead.
