On Monday, Taliban terrorists attacked the Afghan parliament as members met to confirm the nomination of Mohammad Masoom Stanikzai to the post of Defense Minister.
As the speaker addressed the parliament in Kabul, a suicide bomber detonated a massive car bomb just outside, which penetrated the defenses of the compound and allowed six Taliban gunmen to enter.
Despite the horrifying explosion, the speaker appeared stoic and even seemed to try and continue his speech as body guards rushed to his side. His calm expression is incredible — it seems it takes a lot more to scare this guy:
After an intense gun battle with Afghan police inside the parliamentary compound, all six gunmen were killed. Devastatingly, a woman and child died in the attack, and 28 others were wounded.
The Taliban immediately claimed responsibility for the killings, and confirmed suspicions that the attack was deliberately aimed at the parliamentary hearing of Stanikzai, who is widely seen as being a key figure in the Afghan fight against the Taliban.
