Yo-Yo Ma Throws Impromptu Cello Concert At Vaccination Site

Yo-yo Ma staged an impromptu concert at the Berkshire Community College’s vaccination site in Pittsfield, Mass., after he received his second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The long-time Berkshire resident was in observation after getting his second vaccination and decided to play several songs on his cello, including “Ave Maria.”

Those who have received the vaccine are instructed to wait for about 15 minutes for observation of any adverse side-effects.

Richard Hall, who works with the  Berkshire COVID-19 Vaccine Collaborative, told the Berkshire Eagle that Ma was “delighted” to receive the second vaccine.

He also said that Ma had “wanted to give something back.”
