‘Hawk Tuah’ woman responds to rumors that she was fired from her job as she speaks out for first time

The woman who gained global recognition as ‘Hawk Tuah Girl’ from Nashville has clarified the situation after rumors circulated that she had been fired. While many people spend countless hours trying to achieve fame through various channels such as talent agents or YouTube, Hailey Welch became a worldwide sensation simply by pretending to spit in response to a risqué question. The viral moment occurred when she answered what ‘makes a man go crazy [in bed] every time’, and though it brought her immediate attention, it was also followed by false rumors about her professional life.

Last month, a satirical post claimed that Welch had lost her job as a school teacher due to her notorious response in the video posted by Tim & Dee TV. The source of this claim was described as ‘Tippah County’s #1 Publication For Satirical Laughs’, which certainly casts doubt on its reliability. Despite this, the rumor spread.

Hailey Welch went viral for her ‘hawk tuah’.

Welch remained silent initially as the video gained traction, but recently, she addressed the rumors in an interview with PlanBri from Barstool Sports. She clarified that she had never been a school teacher, stating, “At the time the video was released, I was actually working in a spring factory. I’m not a school teacher, or a bartender,” and emphasized, “I’m not even old enough to be a teacher.”

The host also inquired if her father was a preacher, to which Welch responded decisively, “My father is so far from a preacher it’s crazy.” She stressed that the numerous stories circulating about her were fabricated: “None of it’s true, at all.”

Given the myriad of falsehoods associated with her since the video went viral, it’s understandable that Welch wishes to distance herself from the ‘Hawk Tuah Girl’ persona. She expressed a desire to shed this image, stating, “I don’t really want that to be my image. Like, Hawk Tuah Girl? I don’t see that being my thing. I don’t want to be known as that.”

Reflecting on her viral moment, the 21-year-old admitted she was merely being cheeky in her response. “You’re gonna come up to me with a microphone and ask me something like that,” she explained, concluding, “I don’t mean nothing by it.”
