Simone Biles has once again cemented her place in history.
The exceptionally decorated gymnast has added more gold medals to her Olympic Games collection by securing the top prize at the Women’s Artistic Individual All-Around final held on August 1.
According to USA Today Sports, her victory makes her the oldest all-around Olympic champion since 1952.
Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade was a close contender and earned the silver medal, with Biles’ USA teammate Suni Lee taking home the bronze.
Following her success, fans flocked to social media to praise Biles, with one admirer calling the 27-year-old the “greatest Olympic athlete of all time.”
Another Olympics viewer commented: “The GOAT of Gymnastics, one and only Simone Biles, well done, well deserved, it was a treat to watch!!!!”
In addition, someone remarked that Biles has redefined the term “goat” entirely.
They noted: “Children will spend their formative years hearing about the GOAT, Simone Biles, and only later on be shocked to learn there’s actually an animal with a similar name and all will be right in the world.”
This latest triumph marks Biles’ eighth Olympic medal, making her the most successful gymnast in the history of the Games.
As of now, Team USA has achieved a total of 34 medals at Paris 2024, placing them at the top of the medal table.
France, the host country, follows closely with 27 medals, while the People’s Republic of China holds third place with 23.
