There’s a unique new sexual trend that individuals are exploring both alone and with their partners, and it seems to be gaining traction.
This particular sexual practice, which involves self-pleasure, has seen an astounding 778 percent increase in Google searches over recent years.
The goal of this unconventional masturbatory technique, known as gooning, is essentially to extend the pleasure for as long as possible. It’s akin to savoring a huge ice cream sundae with a teaspoon rather than a large spoon.
In essence, it resembles edging but is more intense.
Sex expert Ness Cooper explained to Metro: “Edging is when someone slowly masturbates to the point of orgasm and then stops. In gooning people are more likely to repeat this process over an extended period.”
“Gooning is meant to put people into a trance-like state due to edging so often and so soon after each round. Standard edging can have more forceful stops, while gooning can feel more like teasing.”
Cooper also mentioned that some individuals might choose to watch porn or engage in other fetish-related activities while performing gooning.
“Some suggest it can lead to euphoric feelings from repeated exposure to feel-good hormones,” she added.
Regarding the origin of its unusual name, psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, and certified sex therapist Dr. Ty David Therman told Mashable: “The term is a nod to the ‘Goons’ of early Popeye the Sailor cartoons, which depicted henchmen who were not very smart and seemingly single-task oriented.”
Another kind of kink has also been growing in popularity recently, and it is much more PG compared to gooning.
This is known as ‘praise kink,’ and as you might guess, it involves praising your partner.
Elaborating on the kink, expert Dr. Nicole K. McNichols explained on TikTok: “People who have praise kinks get turned on by their partner complimenting them.”
“Praise kink exists on a continuum of course, because, I mean, who doesn’t love being told that they’re beautiful or hot or amazing in some way?”
Numerous videos online feature people discussing this unique turn-on. Searches for the term began to surge in April 2021, according to Mind Body Green.
Enjoy exploring, everyone.
