Justin and Hailey Bieber announced to the world yesterday (August 23) that they’ve become parents, and unlike many celeb baby names these days, the couple appears to favor tradition.
The singer confirmed the birth of his baby boy, and it seems almost surreal that Justin is now a dad… surreal but fitting.
It feels like just yesterday he was a young boy with a bowl cut, singing about his school crush.
Now 30 years old, Justin Bieber has had an incredibly fascinating career since he first rose to fame at just 16 years old in 2009.
Married to Hailey since September 2018, the couple has now welcomed their first child—a little boy whose name they also disclosed.
The pop star shared a picture on Instagram of his newborn’s feet, captioning it: “Welcome home, Jack Blues Bieber.”
People were naturally curious about the baby’s name as it stands out as relatively conventional, especially given the myriad of unique names chosen by other celebrities for their children.
Fans flocked to social media to congratulate the couple, with one Twitter user writing: “Justin and Hailey are gonna be amazing parents. Congratulations to the Biebers!”
“He’s the only celebrity giving a normal name to their kid,” another commented.
A third fan added: “Omg! Jack Blues Bieber! What a cute name! Definitely a future popular! Congrats to them!”
While another resolved: “Lol finally a normal name for a celebrity baby.”
Many fans speculated on the reason behind the name ‘Jack,’ pointing out that Jeremy Bieber’s middle name is Jack.
According to PEOPLE, the ‘Baby’ singer is continuing a specific family tradition.
The tradition involves giving children ‘JB’ initials—where the first name starts with a ‘J’ and the second name starts with a ‘B’. It’s a tradition followed by Justin Bieber, his dad Jeremy Bieber, his half-sister Jazmyn Bieber, and half-brother Jaxon Bieber. Now, Jack Blues Bieber joins this tradition.
However, exceptions to this ‘JB’ rule exist, as evidenced by Justin’s half-sister, Bay, and step-sister, Allie, who don’t follow this pattern.
It’s heartwarming to see a celebrity adhering to family traditions, something that’s not very common these days.
Congratulations to the Biebers!
