Jake Paul found himself in an awkward situation following the weigh-in with Mike Tyson last night.
The 27-year-old is gearing up to take on the legendary boxer Tyson tonight (November 15) at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Despite the age gap, with Tyson being 31 years older than Paul, the fight is expected to be lucrative. Tyson is anticipated to earn a staggering $20 million, while Paul could potentially earn up to $40 million.
The two fighters have been engaged in a war of words leading up to the match, but last night’s weigh-in (November 14) escalated when Tyson slapped Paul across the face.
Tyson came in 1lb heavier than Paul, weighing 16st 4lb.
As they faced off, Paul approached Tyson and was met with a slap.
Paul stumbled back after the hit as security intervened to separate them.
In response, Paul mocked the 58-year-old by blowing kisses as he was led away.
After the incident, Paul commented: “I didn’t even feel it. He’s angry. He’s an angry little elf.”
Paul also declared: “Mike Tyson, I thought that was a cute slap, buddy, but tomorrow you’re getting knocked out.”
He continued his tirade: “It’s personal now. Now he’s got to die.”
Many have questioned the reason behind Tyson’s return to the ring after nearly two decades of retirement, especially to face someone like Paul.
Despite the financial gain, Tyson has stated that money wasn’t his motivation.
When questioned by LADbible Group about the fight’s financial impact, Tyson said: “This fight is not going to change my life financially. If I did it for free, it’s not going to change my life financially. My wife is constantly telling me, you do not need to do this fight.”
He explained his decision to take on the fight: “This is what I want to do, this is me. I’m seeking my glory.”
