Jake Paul emerged victorious against Mike Tyson in their recent face-off, surprising many who had seen a ‘leaked script’ predicting this outcome.
Tyson, the renowned boxing champion, stepped into the ring for his first professional fight in nearly two decades, facing off against Paul on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Originally scheduled for July, the fight was postponed indefinitely as Tyson, at 58, dealt with health issues that required attention.
The eagerly awaited showdown was broadcast live on Netflix, attracting over 120 million viewers worldwide.
However, the circulation of a supposed ‘script’ for the fight on social media sparked some irritation among fans.
Posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, this one-page document purportedly outlined the fight’s five rounds, specifying the dominant fighter in each round and the eventual winner.
According to this alleged script, Tyson was to ‘come alive’ in Round 2, with Paul ‘gaining confidence’ in Round 3.
The fourth round was described as follows: “Fatigue sets in for Tyson, though his punches still carrying devastating power.
“Paul establishes his rhythm, landing increasingly clean shots. A particularly sharp right hand opens a cut above Tyson’s left eye.
“The old champion bulls forward, trying to close distance, but Paul’s footwork keeps him just out of range. The tide is turning.”
Round 5 was supposedly where Paul would have Tyson on the ropes, leading to a knockout and his victory.
However, the actual fight unfolded differently, as Paul and Tyson battled for eight rounds, contrary to the script’s five.
Tyson began aggressively in Round 1, pinning Paul against the ropes, but Paul retaliated with a swift overhand right, using his jab effectively to control the pace and narrowly win the round.
In the second round, Tyson landed a strong body punch, yet Paul’s agility and footwork allowed him to escape further assaults and maintain control.
By Round 3, Tyson’s aggressive approach was countered by Paul’s sharp left hook and robust combination, giving Paul a clear advantage.
In Round 4, Paul slowed the pace, maintaining center ring control, avoiding unnecessary risks, and continuing to outscore Tyson.
During Round 5, Tyson found himself increasingly on defense, with Paul controlling the tempo and delivering precise hits.
By Round 6, Tyson’s performance waned further as Paul maintained his activity level without exerting too much pressure.
Tyson showed some energy in Round 7, landing a powerful left hand early on, but Paul concluded the round with a strong series of punches.
In the final round, Tyson attempted a final push, but Paul’s poise and mastery ensured his control of the fight. The bout ended with both fighters showing mutual respect, as Paul secured a decisive unanimous victory.
The final scorecard read 80-72 in favor of Paul.
