Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua are temporarily sidelined from fighting following their recent clash in Miami.
The confrontation between YouTuber Jake Paul and two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua had many wondering if the social media sensation could hold his own against a seasoned professional boxer.
In the sixth round, Joshua delivered a knockout to Paul, who had already been knocked down several times, leading to the stoppage of the match.
Paul had previously claimed a win over a much older Mike Tyson, who was 58 years old at the time and far from his prime. Additionally, Paul suffered a significant defeat by Tommy Fury earlier in 2023.
Despite these setbacks, Paul has consistently emphasized his impact on boxing, even asserting that he has influenced the sport more than anyone else in the past decade.
“No one has done more for the sport of boxing in the last decade than myself,” Paul stated. “So if people cared about boxing they would want me to win.”

Paul continued, “But I see the angle they’re coming from in the sense he’s been doing it all his life.”
“But I think that I’m more important for boxing so if they cared about the sport they would want me to win.”
Although Joshua emerged victorious, both fighters are now subject to a mandatory rest period preventing them from competing again immediately. This requirement isn’t due to any misconduct but rather a stipulation under Florida law, where the fight took place.
According to these regulations, fighters must take a seven-day rest period following a major bout.
The rule specifies: “Participants shall receive a mandatory seven-day rest period after competing in a match. Day 1 of the mandatory rest period shall commence on the first day following the event.”

Following the fight, Paul was visibly injured, revealing that Joshua had broken his jaw.
“Anthony’s a great fighter, I got my ass beat, but that’s what this sport’s about,” Paul admitted. “I think my jaw is broken by the way.”
“Yeah, it’s definitely broke. But man, that was good. A nice little ass whipping from one of the best to ever do it.”
“I love this so I’m going to come back and get a world championship belt at some point.”
The YouTuber later confirmed the extent of his injury on X, stating, “Double broken jaw. Give me Canelo in 10 days.”
