Jaime King has explained why her son Leo Thames, whose godmother is Taylor Swift, did not attend Swift and Travis Kelce’s huge wedding at Madison Square Garden.
Leo, 10, has a unique connection to the singer, with Swift serving as his godmother. Even so, he was not among the more than 1,000 guests who reportedly attended the couple’s wedding on Friday, July 3, alongside family members, friends, and a long list of celebrity names.
Although attendees were said to have signed strict non-disclosure agreements before the ceremony, details from the event have gradually begun to surface. The wedding drew major attention in the days before and after July 3, 2026, with reports describing Madison Square Garden as transformed into a lavish celebration space for the couple.
Swift and Kelce have not publicly released wedding photos, but Swift’s publicist confirmed that the pair had married, with Adam Sandler officiating.
King has now shared the reason her son was not there, despite his close family link to the bride.

In a statement to US Weekly, her spokesperson said: “The reason Jaime chose Taylor as Leo Thames’s godmother is because they both believe that being a godmother is a deeply personal and spiritual commitment that has nothing to do with public appearances.”
They added: “Leo Thames is still too young for a large adult wedding celebration, but he and his mother were able to joyfully celebrate Taylor and Travis’s marriage in his own very special, age-appropriate way during his summer break.”
King had previously spoken warmly about the engagement in 2025, shortly after the announcement was shared on Instagram.
Speaking at the time, she said: “I’m f***ing stoked.
“Like, this is absolutely, this is the person. This is her person. Yeah, I’m so happy.”
Swift and Kelce have been together since 2023, and the Kansas City Chiefs star proposed in August 2025.
Reports have claimed Madison Square Garden was turned into an enchanted garden for the ceremony, while guests were treated to VIP performances by Stevie Knicks and Paul McCartney.
Another detail that emerged was the song played as Swift walked down the aisle. Despite having a huge catalog of love songs to choose from, it’s said she selected one of her own.
According to reports, she entered to a string version of “Love Story”, a choice that quickly drew strong reactions online.
Many fans loved the decision, but others on social media criticized it as “tacky” and “self-indulgent.”
