Maggie McGraw, 28, is engaged to boyfriend James Rubin, her sister revealed on Instagram this week.
Gracie McGraw, 29, shared the news with a photo of her beaming sister flashing a new engagement ring, disclosing that she and youngest sibling Audrey, 24, had helped orchestrate the summer proposal. The setup was tailored precisely to Maggie’s taste.
“@jamesrubin170 proposed to our sister @maggiemaymcgraw in the greatest, most Maggie way possible, filled with flowers and family,” Gracie wrote on the platform.
“It’s an honor to have been a small part of the process of getting things set up and perfect for our Mags, I will never forget it.”
“Thank you @jamesrubin170 for making my sister the happiest lady in all the land,” she finished.
The engagement marks a first for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s family of three daughters. Maggie, the couple’s middle child, has carved out a path in environmental advocacy and sports analytics since leaving school.
She earned a master’s degree in sustainability and science practice from Stanford University in 2021. Her father marked the occasion with a public tribute that same year.
“We are so incredibly proud of our Maggie May!!!!” McGraw captioned a post from her graduation. “I have such admiration for her work ethic, her fierce love of her family and especially her passion to make the world a better place….. Go get em my sweet girl!!!! Proud Pop!”
Maggie has since put that training into practice on a global stage. In 2023, she addressed the UN General Assembly on climate change, focusing specifically on ocean health.
“The health of our planet – especially the ocean – is integral to everyday life for so many people,” she captioned a photo from the event. “It’s not too late to join the conversation because climate action is ALWAYS timely.”
She now works as an intelligence analyst for Major League Baseball, according to her LinkedIn profile.
The announcement arrives as Gracie herself has been open about her own recent struggles. Earlier this month, she disclosed on Instagram Stories that three years on Ozempic had revived her eating disorder after she took the drug to manage symptoms of polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome.
“At that time, I thought it was the best decision I ever made because I finally lost weight and got skinny,” she explained. “Yes, it f–king worked and made my PCOS symptoms easier to control, but it also brought back my ED (eating disorder) and negative views on my body.”
The McGraw-Hill family has long kept a public profile balanced between Nashville royalty and candid family moments. Tim and Faith married in 1996 and raised their three daughters largely out of the spotlight, though all three have surfaced in social media tributes and occasional appearances over the years.
Gracie’s own path has included acting credits and vocal work; Audrey, the youngest at 24, has pursued modeling. Maggie’s trajectory through Stanford, the United Nations, and now a corporate analytics role set her apart as the most academically and environmentally focused of the trio.
Rubin, the groom-to-be, appears to have won over the entire family. Gracie’s enthusiastic endorsement suggests the sisters had already welcomed him into their tight-knit circle before the summer proposal.
The couple has not yet announced a wedding date.
