Kylie Minogue is closing out her European summer with a sun-soaked farewell.
The 58-year-old singer shared a clip on Instagram this week showing herself reclined on a sun lounger in a yellow string bikini, straw hat pulled low and silky sarong nearby, as she prepares to head home to Australia for a major performance. “Bye Euro Summer,” she captioned the post, peeking from beneath her hat. “Hello Aussie football szn.”
The timing marks a pivot from holiday mode to headline slot. Minogue will lead the pre-game entertainment at the AFL Grand Final on September 26 at Melbourne Cricket Ground, a booking she enthusiastically confirmed back in March. “The AFL Grand Final at Melbourne’s one and only, forever iconic MCG? Yes please!” she said at the time. “As a Melburnian, I’m so excited to be coming home for the biggest day in the Aussie sporting calendar.”
She added then that she would be “not only be performing, but I’ll be one of 100,000 fans at the ‘G, watching the wonder that is footy.”
The booking represents a significant win for the sporting event. Minogue will become the first Australian act to perform at the grand final since Eskimo Joe in 2021, when the game was held in Perth. Previous international performers have included Robbie Williams, Kiss, Katy Perry and, most recently, Snoop Dogg.
The Euro trip that Minogue is now wrapping up included plenty of poolside moments and sightseeing, documented across her social media. One highlight brought family into the frame: her sister Dannii Minogue, 54, joined her in Paris for a nostalgic photo project.
The siblings attempted to recreate a vintage photograph they had taken under the Eiffel Tower nearly four decades earlier. “OK, we’re here in Paris by the iconic Eiffel Tower and we’re gonna attempt to recreate an iconic photograph from 1988. Can you do it?” Kylie asked her younger sister in a video shared on Instagram.
“My goodness, I don’t even know if I can pull this face anymore but let’s try,” Dannii replied.
The pair struck their poses and captured the updated shot. “Sisters in Paris and just HAD to recreate this vintage family pic. One frame then. One frame now!!! Nailed it!! LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!” Kylie gushed on Instagram.
The two-time Grammy winner’s return to Australia will put her in front of one of the country’s largest live audiences of the year at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
