Bailee Lynn Rios, 36, has been identified as the SUV driver accused of killing two people in a violent collision with a Los Angeles Metro bus.
Rios was booked in connection with the deadly Tuesday crash and is being held on $4.03 million bail, according to booking information.
Authorities previously said Rios was suspected of reckless driving, running a red light and possible DUI. Two people were killed and six others were injured in the wreck, including Rios herself, police said.
The LA County Department of the Medical Examiner identified the victims on Wednesday morning as Gage Weida, 31, and Daniel Castillo, 46.
The T-bone collision happened near Nordhoff Street and De Soto Avenue in Chatsworth when the SUV slammed into the Metro bus, becoming lodged inside the vehicle.
The crash scene drew heavy media attention, which was followed by a second tragedy. An NBC helicopter covering the wreck plunged from the sky near the scene, killing three additional people.
Reporter Eliana Moreno, pilot George Marciniw and pedestrian Edy Gutierrez Mejia died in the helicopter crash.
The bus collision and subsequent helicopter crash made Tuesday a particularly deadly day in the San Fernando Valley community. The wrecked SUV remained lodged inside the Metro bus as emergency responders worked the scene.
Rios faces serious charges related to the bus crash as the investigation continues. The $4.03 million bail figure reflects the severity of the allegations against her.
Weida and Castillo were the only fatalities in the bus itself, while six other people sustained injuries. The medical examiner’s office released their names the day after the collision.
The Chatsworth intersection where the crash occurred became the center of two separate emergency responses within hours. The helicopter went down while covering the aftermath of the initial collision.
Authorities have not released additional details about Rios’s condition or any court dates scheduled for her appearance.
