Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky have welcomed a baby girl via surrogate, with the child’s name now revealed.
The “Born This Way” singer, 38, and her fiancé Polansky became parents to daughter Rose Bean with the help of a gestational carrier, according to a Thursday report. The couple’s infant was born earlier this summer, with additional details on the surrogacy journey remaining private.
The outlet first broke the news of Gaga’s baby last week, reporting that the pop star and the tech entrepreneur had started a family. The initial report did not include the infant’s name or sex at that time.
Reports said Rose Bean’s name and sex on Thursday, nearly one week after the initial baby news surfaced. The name carries personal significance for the couple, though they have not publicly explained its meaning.
Gaga’s representative did not immediately respond to requests for comment when approached by the outlet following the initial report. The singer herself has not posted about the birth on her social media platforms.
The couple’s engagement was confirmed in April 2024, though they had been romantically linked since late 2019. Polansky, a Harvard graduate and executive director of the Parker Foundation, has kept a relatively low public profile compared to his famous partner.
Gaga has spoken in past interviews about her desire for motherhood. In a 2015 interview with InStyle, she said, “I can’t wait to have babies,” She added at the time, “I want to have a family and be a good mom.”
The Grammy and Oscar winner has maintained an active career throughout her relationship with Polansky. She released her seventh studio album, “Mayhem,” earlier this year and has continued her Las Vegas residency.
The use of a gestational surrogate aligns with options increasingly chosen by public figures and others facing fertility challenges or personal circumstances. Gaga has previously been open about her own health struggles, including fibromyalgia and a hip injury that required surgery.
The couple was first spotted together at a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas in 2019. They made their relationship Instagram official the following February, when Gaga shared a photo of them together at a Super Bowl party in Miami.
Gaga was previously engaged to talent agent Christian Carino and actor Taylor Kinney. She has not announced any wedding plans with Polansky since their engagement.
The singer is scheduled to continue her Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM.
