Carrot Top’s Friday night show at the Luxor was abruptly canceled after the comedian was hospitalized.
Scott Thompson, 61, the prop comic known professionally as Carrot Top, was taken to a local Las Vegas hospital following an attempted suicide in the area, sources familiar with the situation said. The incident occurred Friday.
Thompson’s representative, Jami Schlicher, confirmed the performer’s condition and whereabouts. “Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs,” Schlicher said.
“His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy,” Schlicher added.
The cancellation of his Friday performance at the Luxor, where Thompson maintains a longtime residency, came directly as a result of the hospitalization. The venue did not immediately announce whether subsequent shows would proceed.
