Yash Patel is speaking out about the double eviction that ended his “Big Brother 28” run.
The 24-year-old finance analyst, who was sent home during Thursday’s dramatic back-to-back elimination, said on Friday that he harbors competitive resentment toward Drew Campbell, 22, for casting the decisive vote against him. “In terms of the game, you best believe I have hard feelings towards him about that decision,” Patel said in the exclusive interview.
That bitterness stops at the game line, however. Patel made clear he will not carry personal animosity into life outside the CBS house. “Everything that happened in that house stays in that that house,” he said. “Game is game. So I’m not gonna bring that into the real world.”
The eviction unfolded during the season’s first double elimination night. Rick Devens, 42, won the Power Veto and removed himself from the block, forcing Head of Household to name a replacement. Patel landed alongside Dee Valladares, 29, and immediately began working with ally Taylor Brown to secure Campbell’s vote.
Campbell, a surgical dental assistant, rejected their pleas. He aligned with Devens and the “Icons” faction, keeping Valladares and sending Patel to the jury house. The move cemented Campbell’s position with an alliance that also includes “Big Brother 26” alum Angela Murray.
During his exit interview with host Julie Chen Moonves, Patel acknowledged the betrayal registered as minimal because he had never fully trusted Campbell. “He was never somebody I could really trust to begin with,” he told Moonves.
Patel’s assessment of Campbell’s gameplay grew harsher when pressed by the outlet. “No. He plays a little weaselly. I don’t respect that kind of gameplay,” he replied when asked whether Campbell qualifies as a strong competitor. The dismissal came with grudging acknowledgment of results: “But hey, he outlasted me. I can’t really hate on it that much.”
The “Icons” bond with Campbell had been visible throughout the season, Patel noted, making the vote predictable in retrospect. That sustained connection between Campbell and the veteran-led alliance has drawn fire from multiple eliminated houseguests.
Mallory Aurichio, 24, a rocket scientist evicted during the milestone 1000th episode last month, previously said she felt most betrayed by Campbell. “I’m surprised about a lot of the stuff that Drew has done,” Aurichio said following her emotional departure. She accused him of playing both sides and feeding intelligence to the “Icons” camp. “I always knew he was tight with the ‘Icons’ and I knew he talked too much, but I had been kind of assuming he had my best interests and he didn’t,” she said.
The double eviction began with Devens’s veto win, which forced the replacement nomination and set up the Campbell-Patel confrontation. The compressed timeline of double eviction nights typically forces rapid, high-stakes decisions that expose alliances and fracture temporary partnerships.
