Heidi Klum crossed paths with her ex-boyfriend Vito Schnabel during a Manhattan lunch outing.
The supermodel, 53, was seated outdoors at Bar Pitti in New York City’s West Village on Monday with her daughter Leni, 22, when Schnabel, 40, appeared at the same restaurant. The former couple, who ended their three-year relationship in 2017, exchanged friendly greetings in the outdoor dining area, according to footage.
Heidi and Leni were later seen switching tables in the patio section, though the timing of the move relative to Schnabel’s arrival remained unclear. For the mother-daughter meal, Heidi wore a long navy coat over a gray top and denim jeans, accessorized with black sunglasses and a gray purse. Leni opted for an all-black ensemble and held the family’s puppy Fritz, whom the Klums adopted in April.
The chance encounter came just days after Heidi hosted her annual Halloween bash, where she made headlines in an elaborate severed hand costume. Her daytime look at Bar Pitti stood in sharp contrast to that theatrical weekend appearance.
Heidi welcomed Leni in 2004 with former Formula One executive Flavio Briatore. Seal, whom Heidi married in 2005, later adopted Leni; the couple had three more children together before divorcing in 2012. Two years after that separation, Heidi began dating Schnabel, a prominent art dealer and son of director Julian Schnabel.
Their 2017 breakup followed months of speculation. That June, Schnabel was photographed kissing another woman in London. He said of the incident: “I was simply saying good night to a family friend and we went on our separate ways.” Sources close to the couple at the time maintained they were still together. By September, however, reports said the pair were “on a break,” and Heidi soon confirmed the split herself.
“I believe that it is important to take time to pause and reflect,” she said at the time.
Heidi moved on with musician Tom Kaulitz, marrying him in 2019. The couple first wed secretly in February of that year before holding a formal celebration in Italy that summer. Schnabel, meanwhile, married Russian model Helena Althof in July 2024. The wedding took place at the Richard Meier-designed mansion in Old Westbury, New York, that Schnabel purchased in 2019. Reports said the ceremony was “a very small and very private” affair.
Both Heidi and Schnabel have since built new lives, making their casual Monday reunion a moment of crossed paths rather than crossed wires.
Heidi and Kaulitz are expected to continue their public appearances as the holiday season approaches in Los Angeles.
