Special Education Teacher Urges Moms to ‘Stop Giving Birth’ to Boys to Escape ‘Patriarchal Hell’

A Maryland special education teacher has deleted her Facebook account after posts calling for women to abort male fetuses and stop giving birth to boys drew widespread attention.

Dana L. Zentgraf, who worked with children with disabilities at Clopper Mill Elementary School in Montgomery County, shared the inflammatory messages in October on an account under the name “Da Graf,” according to reporting that surfaced her identity. The account featured a photo of a young girl alongside a Palestinian flag.

“I think we should start aborting male fetuses (or not having kids at all right now) and put an end to female oppression once and for all,” Zentgraf wrote in one Facebook post.

The posts framed the elimination of male children as a necessary response to systemic misogyny. In another message, she declared: “They are all menace to society and we need to stop giving birth to them. If it’s too late to abort, raise him like your life depends on it because it does. All of our lives depend on it.”

Zentgraf, whose duties involved teaching students with emotional, mental, learning and physical disabilities, also described a personal reproductive strategy rooted in sex-selective abortion.

“If I was in my reproduction era, I would have one of those early blood tests to see if the fetus is a boy or a girl and I would abort it if it was a boy,” she wrote. “I don’t want to give birth to my own oppressor and I feel like the only way out of this patriarchal hell is for there to be less men on this earth.”

Her commentary extended to mothers who believed they could raise sons to reject sexism. Zentgraf dismissed such efforts as futile against broader societal forces.

“I have news for the mothers of boys who believe they raised their sons ‘right’: In the world we live in, raising a boy right at home does not guarantee that he will be seen or treated right outside those doors,” she wrote.

She continued: “Once he steps outside your home, he enters a patriarchal world that has taught men, in ways both subtle and overt, that they hold power over women. It’s your son too. It’s all of them.”

Zentgraf’s social media presence included other politically charged content. She referred to the United States as “AMERIKKKA” in a post alongside a photo of an SUV decorated with American flags, writing: “Anyone who loves America this much is racist and nothing will ever change my mind.” She also called for insurrections over voting, the coverage noted.

Her suspicion extended to women who expressed sympathy toward men. Zentgraf described using hostility toward men as a litmus test for female friendship.

“Upon meeting another woman, I will almost immediately find a way to say something mean about a man or men in general to figure out whether or not she’s a safe person to be myself around,” she wrote. “The last thing I need in my life is a male centered woman.”

The “Da Graf” account was connected to Zentgraf after she apparently posted using her real name on her school’s page, according to the reporting. The account was taken down after the story was published.

Zentgraf’s position caring for young children, including presumably boys among her students, raised particular concern given the nature of her public statements. Neither Zentgraf, Clopper Mill Elementary nor Montgomery County Public Schools responded to requests for comment.

The school district has previously drawn attention for policy decisions including a nearly $500,000 “anti-racist audit” in 2020 and a 2023 move to limit parents’ access to a board meeting where opt-in policies for gender identity classroom discussions were being considered.
