Billy Baldwin has finally named Sharon Stone as the co-star he refused to kiss on camera.

The 63-year-old actor revealed the long-secret identity during Tuesday’s episode of the “Lisa Guerrero Unleashed” podcast, predicting on air that his disclosure “could go viral.” Baldwin, who had “never told anyone [the story] before,” said he would “never, ever work with” Stone, 68, again after their experience filming the 1993 erotic thriller “Silver.”
Baldwin recalled that the two “got along pretty well the first couple weeks” of production. Then, he claimed, Stone “wouldn’t say ‘hello’ or ‘goodbye’ to me for the next three months.” The resulting tension, he said, left “everybody miserable” on set.
The discomfort ran so deep that Baldwin scheduled a meeting with producers to declare he could not film the last of the film’s four love scenes. He ultimately relented under one condition: “I can do the scene but just please don’t make me kiss her. … I can’t kiss her,” he recounted. That refusal, he alleged, produced the film’s iconic encounter between his character Zeke Hawkins and Stone’s Carly Norris against a support column.
Baldwin also challenged Stone’s account from her 2021 memoir “The Beauty of Living Twice” and its accompanying press tour. Stone had claimed that producer Robert Evans pressured her to sleep with Baldwin to improve his performance. Baldwin countered that Evans gave him the identical spiel.
“He wasn’t talking about Sharon not being able to act,” Baldwin said, praising her “11 out of 10” screen presence. “He was saying, ‘I keep getting reports that there’s incredibly bad tension. We know what it’s all about. All this pent-up sexual energy tension. Just do it and get it over with.'”
Baldwin called Stone “silly” for implying otherwise and for “badmouth[ing]” his acting skills on “Larry King Live” the week of the premiere — a slight he noted she repeated 30 years after the film’s release. He made further allegations about bizarre on-set behavior, claiming Stone maintained “a shrine to [him] in her trailer complete with candles and pictures” and that she walked on crutches for days after he accidentally stepped on her with a socked foot mid-scene.
The actor also claimed Stone told friend Janice Dickinson of plans to “make him fall so hard for [her] … [his head would] f–king spin” — an assertion Dickinson has previously denied.
Despite the litany of grievances, Baldwin expressed a desire to move past the feud. He said he would “love to bury the hatchet” and hopes to someday “shake her hand” or “give her a hug.” The two have “run into each other” at an airport and a car show since filming wrapped, he noted, but have “never talked.”
Stone’s representative did not immediately respond to requests for comment following the podcast’s release. Baldwin himself had threatened in 2024 to reveal “so much dirt” on Stone when she first brought their history back into headlines, but held his tongue at that time.
The 1993 film “Silver,” directed by Phillip Noyce, paired Baldwin and Stone as neighbors in a New York high-rise where voyeurism and murder intertwine. The movie became known for its steamy sequences, including the support-column encounter Baldwin now says arose from his refusal to kiss his co-star.
