Lizzo has broken her silence after a federal judge dismissed the last claims against her touring company.
The singer, 36, addressed the outcome Tuesday in an Instagram video after a three-year legal fight with former wardrobe stylist Asha Daniels came to a close. Daniels, who worked for Big Grrrl Touring for less than three weeks in 2023, had accused the company of sexual and racial harassment in a September 2023 filing that also initially named Lizzo personally.
“It was all so shocking because I was being sued by someone who admittedly never met me,” Lizzo wrote over the clip she shared Tuesday. The singer had been dropped as an individual defendant in December 2024, leaving only the claims against Big Grrrl Touring to be resolved.
Lizzo described Daniels’ allegations as “ridiculous” and singled out one claim involving a broken acrylic nail. She maintained she had done nothing wrong throughout the proceedings and had refused to settle, telling fans she would fight “every vicious claim” against her and her businesses.
“The truth matters to me more than anything,” she said in the video, adding that she had prayed for the truth to emerge and thanking her legal team for their work.
Melissa Glass, Lizzo’s attorney, described the dismissal as “a total victory for Lizzo, her touring company and the other defendants named in Asha Daniels’ ludicrous lawsuit.”
“There was never any basis for Ms. Daniels to sue Lizzo, her touring company, her tour manager or her wardrobe manager,” Glass said. “Indeed, the case against Lizzo was thrown out in December 2024.”
Glass added that the legal team is “exploring all avenues to enforce our clients’ rights after this major win.”
Daniels’ original lawsuit claimed she had been subjected to “degradation, forced physical labor, denial of medical care, sexual harassment, and racial harassment” during her brief employment with Big Grrrl Touring. The filing kept the dispute active for nearly three years even after Lizzo herself was removed from the case.
Lizzo said she felt “relieved” to announce the final dismissal Tuesday and expressed gratitude for the outcome. She plans to continue using her platform to “spread positivity and light to the world.”
The legal battle first erupted when Daniels sued both Lizzo and Big Grrrl Touring in September 2023, making allegations that the singer consistently denied. Lizzo was cleared as an individual defendant by December 2024, but the claims against her touring company continued until Tuesday’s dismissal brought the entire matter to a close.
