Footage has surfaced showing Jennifer Aniston’s character on The Morning Show being doused with fake oil.
Apple TV+’s series The Morning Show explores the intense world of morning television, addressing current events like the #MeToo movement and the coronavirus pandemic.
A new clip from the upcoming fourth season shows Aniston’s character, Alex Levy, being splashed with oil by protestors.
Even before the third season aired, The Morning Show had already been renewed for a fourth season.
On July 8, Aniston posted a photo on Instagram with her co-star Reese Witherspoon, indicating that filming for the latest season has begun.
Since then, photographs and videos have emerged online showing Aniston, in character, being covered in oil on set.
A TikTok video, which later spread on Twitter, captures Aniston on set facing a group of protestors, some of whom are believed to be climate activists.
The protestors hold signs reading phrases like ‘Truth Warrior’, and suddenly, fake oil is thrown at Aniston from the right side.
Fans of the show quickly took to social media to discuss the scene.
Some viewers were initially confused, not realizing the footage was from the TV series set.
A Twitter user wrote: “The people protesting big oil threw oil on Jennifer Aniston and she looks confused and horrified. Why do you think they targeted her?”
“By whom and what was their motive?” Another person asked.
However, if you listen closely to the end of the clip, you can hear someone say ‘cut’, clearly indicating that it was a scripted scene for the show.
Another user commented: “It’s clearly acting.”
“That’s from the show my dude. In a longer version of the video you can hear ‘cut’ at the end and everyone breaks,” a third person added.
And a fourth person noted: “The fact some people thought this was real is very concerning.”
Apple TV+ has not yet announced the release date for the fourth season of The Morning Show, but with production underway, it is expected to be available sometime in 2025.
