Rick Springfield, 77, has fans doing a double take after stripping off his shirt onstage in Las Vegas.
The “Jessie’s Girl” singer bared his toned torso during a weekend concert at the Palms Casino Resort, trading his top for nothing but black leather pants while tearing through his 1981 chart-topper. The footage exploded across social media, with viewers stunned by the Australian rocker’s physique at an age when most peers have long retired the spandex.
“77…Who’s his chef, trainer and doctors? I’ll buy whatever serum he’s taking,” one fan wrote on X.
“He looks 47! Seriously!” someone else tweeted.
Another account wrote, “77?! Holy Fountain of Youth!!!”
A different fan said Springfield “must be doing something right” because he “still looks and sounds great and a full head of hair to boot.”
“He looks at least 20 years younger,” another fan tweeted.
The Vegas gig was no one-off stunt. Springfield, who is currently on his I Want My ’80s Tour, had similarly gone shirtless for his concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Aug. 21.
Springfield said last year that he maintains his rock-hard abs by exercising every day. “Every time I play with my band, it is a two-hour aerobic workout,” he said at the time. “On the road we’re Planet Fitness whores. Planet Fitness is like the Holiday Inn of workout places — they’re all the same, every place you go.”
The Grammy Award winner also revealed that he stays fit by being a pescatarian. “I’ll have meat now and then if I feel like feeling a little weak, but I don’t eat dairy or anything like that,” he shared. “I’m on a big anti-inflammation kick.”
Additionally, Springfield said he cut back on drinking alcohol two years prior. “I was drinking quite a bit, and as you get older, it’s kind of a natural thing to drop all that s–t,” he explained. “I’ll have a couple of sips of vodka or something when I’m onstage, but I don’t drink any other time.”
In the same interview, Springfield admitted that he doesn’t feel his age. “I still feel like I’m in my 20s in my head,” he told the outlet. “Then I see people dying from old age disease and go, ‘Wow, I’m the same age as old people!'”
Springfield launched the I Want My ’80s Tour earlier this year, packing venues with fans eager to relive the decade that made him a MTV staple and soap-opera heartthrob.
The tour continues with upcoming dates across the United States.
