Actor Daveigh Chase has died at the age of 35, according to a report from TMZ.
Chase, who was best known for appearing in films including The Ring and for voicing Lilo in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, was also known for roles in Donnie Darko, Big Love and the English-language dub of Spirited Away. The report said she died after developing meningitis and a blood infection that led to septic complications.
Chase, who was born in July 1990, became a familiar face in early-2000s film and television, particularly for her portrayal of the terrifying Samara Morgan in The Ring, which became one of the most recognizable horror performances of its era.
Before her death, her boyfriend created a GoFundMe page and shared the following message:
“Recently, everything changed. Daveigh was diagnosed with meningitis and several serious blood infections. Her condition has become critical, and the doctors have told me she may not have much time left. All she ever wanted was a place where we could live together, feel safe, and be happy. Now, more than ever, I want to give her that sense of home and peace in her final days.”
Chase’s death has not yet been independently confirmed by a representative for the actress or by her family.
