Trump targets Miley Cyrus after lauding her dad Billy Ray onstage

Donald Trump has criticized Miley Cyrus while commending her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, calling him a “great conservative guy.”

Amidst ongoing family drama within the Cyrus household, with leaked audio capturing Billy Ray’s heated argument with wife Firerose, Trump has added to the turmoil.

After surviving an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump took the stage in Nashville, Tennessee over the weekend.

On Saturday (27 July), Trump addressed the annual Bitcoin Conference, vowing to transform the U.S. into the “crypto capital of the planet and bitcoin superpower of the world.”

In his speech, Trump unexpectedly mentioned Billy Ray Cyrus, noting that Nashville is the epicenter of country music, and Billy Ray was reportedly in attendance at the event.

In a video from the event shared on Twitter, Trump can be seen acknowledging Billy Ray Cyrus’s presence, asking where he is among the crowd.

Trump continued: “He’s around here someplace and he’s great, he’s a Conservative guy.”

However, Trump did not stop at complimenting Billy Ray; he also seemed to take a jab at his daughter, Miley.

Speculation about a rift between Miley and Billy Ray began when Miley did not attend her father’s wedding to Firerose and did not mention him in her Grammy acceptance speech.

Miley also stated in a recent interview that she “inherited narcissism” from her father.

Trump appeared to reference the family tension, saying at the rally: “I said: ‘How did you get such a liberal daughter? How did that happen Billy Ray?'”

Social media users quickly responded, believing Trump was referring to Miley.

One Twitter user commented: “Trump coming after Miley Cyrus was not on my bingo card for this year.”

Another added: “Because it’s not 1924 anymore and women are allowed to think for themselves.”

A third questioned: “Can someone confirm if he was there? Be hilarious if he wasn’t.”

Despite previously breaking down in tears in 2016 after Trump became president, Miley Cyrus eventually “accept[ed]” him as the 45th president of the U.S.

In a video posted on her Instagram at the time, Miley expressed her belief that Hillary Clinton “deserved to be the first female president” and wished Clinton had the opportunity because she “fought for so long” and the singer believed Clinton genuinely “loves” America.

Miley added: “But like Donald Trump so ironically claimed after his speech, he said, ‘You can’t always get what you want.'”

She concluded: “And Happy Hippies, we adjust, and we accept everyone, who they are. And so, Donald Trump, I accept you. And it’s hard to say, but I even accept you as president of the United States.”
