Ever wondered what it’s like to live every day in your birthday suit? Well, one woman is spilling the tea on what it’s really like to be a nudist — the good, the bad, and the breezy!
While most of us are busy wrestling into our bras and scouting out someone to play “nip slip” patrol at the beach, there are folks out there who have decided to throw caution (and their clothes) to the wind. That’s right, they’re living that full-on nudist lifestyle.
However, embracing the nudist life isn’t all sunshine and skinny dips. Steph Sinn from Los Angeles, USA, has opened up about the most ‘painful’ part of her commitment to living as openly and nakedly as possible.
At 31, Steph has opted to live her life in the buff as much as possible because she believes that “we were born into this world naked” and finds the lifestyle “empowering” and “free.”
She challenges the notion that our bodies should be covered up, arguing that “we were conditioned to believe that our nude bodies are purely for sex,” which has pressured society into wearing clothes.
And when she has to cover up to fit into societal norms? She does so, albeit begrudgingly, and still opts out of wearing both bras and underwear.
So, how do her family and friends react to her choice to engage in activities like nude yoga, hiking stark-naked, and seizing every chance to ditch her threads?
Steph explains that she was raised in “a pretty open household,” reminiscing about “afternoons playing naked on the lawn with a hose and slip ‘n’ slide.”
She was “never shamed for [her] lack of clothing” as a child, but as she grew up, family nudity became less frequent. However, being a competitive swimmer meant she was often around minimally clad people, which she feels had “an unconscious impact” on her.
When she decided to become a ‘nude model and yoga instructor,’ her parents did have “reservations,” she admits.
“But they were mainly concerned for my safety and how it might affect my future in ‘less open’ career settings,” she says. “Luckily, they support me and now understand that I find it empowering.”
Not all of her friends have been as understanding, though.
Steph reveals that she’s had to part ways with some friends because they couldn’t see eye-to-eye regarding her lifestyle choice.
“That’s been painful, but I figure those who are truly meant to be in my life, regardless of their perspective on nudity, will stick around,” she resolves.
“[…] I hope to inspire others to take care of their body and to prioritize their health and wellness. It is a beautiful thing to connect with my surroundings and other humans in this way,” she continues.
