Tammy Slaton has unveiled her 500-pound weight loss in a swimsuit during a family lake trip filmed for the upcoming season of “1000-Lb. Sisters.”
The 40-year-old reality star, who appears on the TLC series alongside her sister Amy Slaton, showed off her transformed figure in patterned swimwear as cameras rolled for season nine. The promo footage captures both sisters baring skin while enjoying time at the lake with relatives, marking a striking visual shift from earlier seasons of the show.
At her heaviest, Tammy weighed approximately 725 pounds and was dependent on a wheelchair, supplemental oxygen, and assistance with basic daily activities. Her health deterioration became a central storyline in the series’ early seasons, when the siblings were filmed pursuing bariatric surgery qualifications. Amy, the younger sister, progressed toward her goal more quickly while Tammy struggled with the necessary lifestyle changes.

The turning point came in 2021, when Tammy entered a specialist rehabilitation facility in Ohio. Shortly after returning home, she suffered carbon-dioxide poisoning and respiratory failure that required a tracheostomy. She later described this period as her rock bottom, using the crisis as motivation to commit fully to weight loss. The consistent effort paid off: she reached her surgical goal weight and underwent bariatric surgery in 2022.

Beyond the poundage, Tammy has also had surgery to remove excess skin resulting from her dramatic body change. The combination of procedures has left her nearly unrecognizable from the woman viewers first met in January 2020, when “1000-Lb. Sisters” premiered following the siblings’ YouTube rise. The show’s title referenced their combined starting weights of roughly 1,000 pounds, with Amy at approximately 400 pounds and Tammy near 600 pounds.
The new season trailer teases additional personal developments, including couple’s therapy sessions with Tammy’s fiancée Andrea Dalton. The pair became engaged last year after meeting on a dating app. Tammy initially kept the relationship private, uncertain how her family would respond to her dating a woman. She has since publicly identified as pansexual, a shift in her self-understanding that followed the death of her husband Caleb Willingham in June 2023.
Willingham and Tammy had married in November 2022 after meeting as fellow patients at the Ohio rehabilitation center where both received obesity-related treatment. His death came just eight months after their wedding. Tammy subsequently stated she no longer wanted relationships with men, a declaration that preceded her connection with Dalton.
The upcoming season will mark the first to document Tammy’s life at her reduced weight, with the lake excursion serving as promotional centerpiece for her physical transformation. TLC has not announced an exact premiere date for season nine.
