Cops seize phone and laptop of celebrity being questioned in Matthew Perry’s death

In a significant development linked to the untimely death of Matthew Perry last year, authorities have confiscated the electronic devices of a high-profile individual currently under scrutiny. The beloved Friends icon tragically passed away in October after he was discovered unresponsive at his residence in Los Angeles. Following an investigation, the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office concluded in December that Perry’s demise was due to the “acute effects of ketamine,” and declared it an accidental death. The autopsy report also cited “drowning, coronary artery disease, and the opioid buprenorphine” as contributing factors to the fatal outcome.

Last month, it was revealed that the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) are collaborating on a criminal probe to determine the origins of the substances found in Perry’s body. The Guardian reported that Perry was receiving ketamine infusion therapy to combat anxiety and depression, a treatment he discussed in his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers, and The Big Terrible Thing. However, it was noted that Perry’s last therapy session occurred approximately a week and a half before his death, and such infusions would typically influence the body’s chemistry for only a few hours, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The LAPD stated, “Based on the medical examiner’s findings, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the United States Postal Inspection Service, has continued its investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Perry’s death.”

In connection with the ongoing investigation, a woman who reportedly had multiple connections with Perry was intensively interrogated. She was not at home when law enforcement executed a search warrant; she was out exercising. According to a report by In Touch, she cooperated fully upon returning, although she was neither handcuffed nor arrested. During the search, officers seized an iPhone and a computer from her room. This individual supposedly met Perry during a stint in rehab, leading to an unexpected bond between them.

An insider shared with In Touch, “She’s hired lawyers and has had multiple meetings with law enforcement since they arrived at her sober living house with a search warrant. She’s being tight-lipped about the situation. But the investigators must have known something to get a warrant and turn up like that.” The source added, “It’s tough to say or know exactly what her role is [in Matthew’s death], but she’s adamant she had nothing to do with that.”
