Woman Quits Job To Knit Sweaters & Hats For Abandoned Greyhounds In Rescue Shelters

We’ve had plenty of cute animals-in-sweaters activity recently with hens and even parrots getting in on the knitwear action. This time, it’s adorable rescue greyhounds keeping snug in woolly hats and coats.

Jan Brown, from Sunderland, UK, started knitting hats and clothes for her four greyhounds and one German shepherd.

She set up Knitted With Love in 2008 and was so successful she quit her job and decided to start donating some of the doggy knitwear to local rescue shelters.

She wanted dogs in rescue centers to keep warm over winter and feel just as loved as the dogs who’ve already found their forever homes.

She told the Dodo, “On each blanket I sew a heart on in memory of the hounds not fortunate enough to make it to a rescue.”

Jan mainly gives the coats and sweaters to greyhound shelters, as greyhounds are often put down when they aren’t winning races.

“My favorite part is doing my bit for the rescues and making some of the most amazing friends doing it,”Jan added.

You can find out more about Knitted With Love at the website, although orders are currently on hold over Christmas due to massive demand.
