NBA supporters have been told to plan ahead as Trump is set to travel to New York to attend Game 3 of the finals on Monday night (June 8).
With the first NBA Finals matchup in New York since 1999 on the schedule, it’s little surprise that Trump — a long-time Knicks supporter — is expected to be there.
Since returning to office, the President has made regular appearances at major sporting events, including the Super Bowl in 2025 and the Ryder Cup.
As the Knicks get ready to face the San Antonio Spurs, thousands of spectators are expected inside Madison Square Garden — including Trump. But with his visit now confirmed, fans are being urged to take note of updated entry procedures.
The team is advising ticket holders to arrive at Madison Square Garden “at least two hours before tip off” because of increased security measures. The game itself is set to start at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Alongside the early-arrival guidance, a strict ‘no bags policy’ will be in place, plus “TSA-style screening procedures”.
Fans are also being warned that there will be no storage available for items that aren’t allowed inside. The prohibited list includes aerosols, ammunition, and weapons of any kind.
The news comes after Trump appeared earlier this week to take a swipe at fans who said they’d been unable to afford Finals tickets.
“It’s sort of semi-free to watch it on television. That’s the way life goes… If the team wasn’t a big success, tickets would go very easily… but that’s the way life is,” he told reporters after it was announced tickets were over $8000.
And he likely won’t be the only recognizable face courtside. In recent weeks, Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet were seen in the crowd as the Knicks Cleveland Cavaliers 130-93 at the Memorial Game.

The pair looked delighted as they followed the action, dressed in matching blue jerseys.
Chalamet, like Trump, has been a Knicks fan for years, and Jenner appears to have joined him in supporting the team.
It’s also far from the first time they’ve attended games together — they’ve been spotted at multiple events since their relationship began in 2023.
Basketball isn’t their only shared interest either, as they’ve also been seen together at the US Open.
Elsewhere, famous Knicks loyalists include Jimmy Fallon, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler and Chris Rock.
It’ll be interesting to see whether they’ve also been told to get there early on Monday.
