Elvira, also known as Cassandra Gay Peterson, recently addressed an awkward run-in with Ariana Grande during a Q&A session at Knott’s Scary Farm in Buena Park, California on October 18. The Mistress of the Dark revealed the details of the event involving the Wicked star, which led to Grande addressing the situation and offering an apology.
Elvira, known for her acting career, was asked about her interactions with other celebrities, including Grande, during the session. She recounted meeting Grande at a meet-and-greet where the singer bought 21 tickets and came backstage, asking Elvira to take pictures with all her friends and family.
Despite accommodating Grande’s requests by taking pictures and signing autographs for everyone she brought backstage, Elvira mentioned that when it was her turn to ask for a photo, Grande allegedly declined, saying, “No, I don’t really do that.” Furthermore, Elvira claimed that Grande left before the show commenced, leaving her guests behind.
This story has sparked criticism against Grande online, labeling the encounter as Elvira’s ‘Worst Celebrity Encounter.’
Elvira took to Instagram on October 21 to share an article about the incident. Grande responded in the comments section, expressing her dismay at the article and Elvira’s remarks.
In her response, Grande expressed her regret over the situation, stating, “I actually don’t even remember getting the chance to meet you because I had an anxiety attack and to my memory, left before the rest of my family (this was around seven years ago and at the time I was really not great with being in public crowds or loud places)…”
She added, “But if I’m misremembering this moment, I sincerely apologize for offending you so.” Grande also thanked Elvira for her kindness towards her mother, mentioning how her mom praised Elvira’s demeanor.
Grande concluded her message with a sentiment of appreciation, “Sending love always. You’ll always be our queen of halloween!”
Fans have applauded Grande for her response to the situation. One Instagram user wrote, “This is why we love you! always responding with love and explaining yourself even when you shouldn’t have to. you’re so strong for enduring all that you unfortunately have to endure and your strength is so admirable. love you so much more than I can express.”
